3 Favourite Minibeast Songs

3 Favourite Minibeast Songs

Minibeasts is always a favourite theme/topic.  I’m going to share with you 3 songs that I know the children really enjoy.

Tiny caterpillar on a leaf

This is to the tune of 'She'll be coming around the mountain'. I usually use puppets when we do this song. But you can also just get the children to wiggle their finger for the caterpillar and flap their arms for the butterfly.

There’s a tiny caterpillar on a leaf (wiggle, wiggle)

There’s a tiny caterpillar on a leaf (wiggle, wiggle)

There’s a tiny caterpillar, tiny caterpillar,

There’s a tiny caterpillar on a leaf (wiggle, wiggle)

He will eat the leaves around him ‘til he’s full (munch, munch)

He will eat the leaves around him ‘til he’s full (munch, munch)

He will eat the leaves around, eat the leaves around

He will eat the leaves around him ‘til he’s full (munch, munch)

A cocoon is what he’s spinning for his home (spin, spin)

A cocoon is what he’s spinning for his home (spin, spin)

A cocoon is what he’s spinning, cocoon is what he’s spinning,

A cocoon is what he’s spinning for his home (spin, spin)

Then he’ll be a butterfly and fly away (flap, flap)

Then he’ll be a butterfly and fly away (flap, flap)

Then he’ll be a butterfly, be a butterfly,

Then he’ll be a butterfly and fly away (flap, flap)

Incy wincy spider

I have included both verses that I sing with the children; they really love the pause on the freeze!

Here are the words:

Incy Wincy Spider climbed the water spout,

Down came the rain and washed the spider out.

Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain

So Incy Wincy Spider climbed the spout again.

Incy Wincy Spider climbed up a tree, Down came the snow and made poor Incy freeze. (on the word 'freeze' encourage all the children to freeze and not move until you start singing again) Out came the sunshine and melted all the snow So Incy Wincy Spider had another go!

There’s a worm at the bottom of the garden

The children love wiggling around during this song.

There’s a worm at the bottom of the garden

And his name is Wiggly-woo. There’s a worm at the bottom of the garden

But all that he can do,

Is wiggle all night and wiggle all day (encourage the children to wiggle on this part of the song)

No matter what the folks may say.

There’s a worm at the bottom of the garden And his name is Wiggly- woo.

I'd love to hear, which are your children's favourite minibeasts songs?

Happy music making!
